The community is conveniently located only minutes from the University of North Carolina, Duke University, and Research Triangle Park. Providence Glen is on the Chapel Hill Transit bus line that is free to residents. The bus line provides easy access to the Chapel Hill area including the University of North Carolina, UNC Hospitals, and Franklin Street. Providence Glen is also near many fine dining restaurants and the upscale mall, The Streets at Southpoint.

Providence Glen is in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District.  East Chapel Hill High, which is the high school for Providence Glen residents, was rated one of America's top 100 high schools by U.S. News & World Report in December 2008. East Chapel Hill High was rated 77th out of more than 21,000 public high schools reviewed, and received their prestigious Gold Medal. BusinessWeek voted Chapel Hill one of the "Best Places to Raise Your Kids" in 2010.  MONEY Magazine has ranked Chapel Hill in the Top 50 Best Places to Live in America.  

Providence Glen has many amenities including a community pool with gas grills, furnished clubhouse, lighted tennis court, play area, and walking paths. The grounds are professionally landscaped and meticulously maintained.
